Gen. McDowell advances from Warrenton to Fredericksburg

WASHINGTON, April 19.

General McDowell’s division yesterday marched from near Warrenton Junction upon Fredericksburg. The road was disputed by a regiment of rebel infantry, one of cavalry, and a battery of artillery. These made two distinct stands but were driven across the Rappahannock. We lost 5 killed and 16 wounded, all cavalry. The rebels burned the bridge over the river at Fredericksburg.
