Company A, Eleventh Pennsylvania Cavalry

Company A, of the Eleventh Pennsylvania Cavalry, was made up of Iowa men.  It was raised for Col. Josiah Harlan’s independent cavalry, which afterwards became the Eleventh Pennsylvania.  The majority of its men were enlisted from Webster county and it numbered eighty-three men.  It was mustered into the service October 29, 1861, and was commanded by T. A. Stratton, captain.  This company served in the army of the Potomac.
