The battalion of Connecticut cavalry . . .

. . . on the Island at Wheeling, Virginia, and a sham fight, the other day, for their own amusement, and in the encounter three horses were killed outright and three or four soldiers were wounded. – It seems to have been a very reckless proceeding.
