. . . George D. Prentice is not the responsible editor of the
Louisville Journal, the St. Louis Democrat contradicts it in authoritative
terms, and says he is not only chief editor but chief proprietor. His wife sympathizes with the Union cause,
and devotes her money and time to the sick soldiers in the Louisville
hospitals. One of his sons is in the
Southern Confederacy, but not two.
