hour, rained at 8 P. M. News is that a Rebel Ram French built has appeared in
the Gulf, monitor moves up to Flag ship. Reb flag of truce report that news in
Mobile is Beauregard has defeated Sherman, & that Lee was evacuating
Richmond. The Rebel force at Mobile is augmenting. Deserters report one division
of Hoods army 10000 strong to have arrived there.
