Diary of Colonel Rutherford B. Hayes: Monday, December 15, 1862

A hot, clear day. Lieutenant McKinley and his party work hard clearing our parade. Rode the little sorrel up the river two miles. Threatens rain at night but we all vote for another fine day. Fire in the mountains.
