The President and exPresidents of Harvard College met at
Whipple's by my request, to be photographed together for the college library.
Messrs. Quincy, Everett, Sparks, Walker, and Felton. We waited for Mr. Everett,
who had forgotten his appointment, and had a great deal of talk. Mr. Quincy was
very bright and earnest. He told me he had enjoyed his life since he was
seventy-four more than any previous part of it. He is now about ninety.
