Arrival Of Treasure

NEW YORK, March 25. – Steamer Champion arrived this morning from Aspinwall with 480,000 dollars in treasure.

The latest news from South America says that part of the revolutionary party have been arrested in Bolivia, and that the others have fled the country.  The army has been reduced to a peace footing.

The attempted revolt at Arrequita, Peru has been suppressed.

The ill feeling at Lima against the Spaniards is said to be dying out.

Jamaica advices of the 10th are received, but they are unimportant.

NEW YORK, March 6 [1862]

The steamship Northern Light, from Aspinwall 25th, arrived this morning with nearly a million of treasure.

Panama papers of the 25th contain the following:

Washington’s birthday was duly celebrated at Panama.

The steamer Wyoming arrived on the 18th.

Business in the city is reviving and the harvest abundant.

Peace is re-established in Bolivia.  Revolutionary attempts agitate Peru.  It is stated that the Bishops and other clergymen are endeavoring to create public opinion in favor of [annexation] to Spain.
