Called with
Postmaster-General Dennison on the President on Saturday evening and spent a
couple of hours with him conversing on the condition of the times, and matters
relating to the war. The President is animated and warms up to enthusiasm when
dwelling on the occurrences in Tennessee, and especially the services of
General Thomas, whom he loves not less than Grant, to whom he is quite
friendly. His description of the fight of Nashville is graphic and highly
interesting.
