Waynesboro, Sept. 28, 1864.
I expect orders to move very soon, — we have a way now of
marching late into the night and of starting very early in the morning, which
is not very pleasant.
I used to look forward to things somehow — now I don't look
forward, but all the old pleasure of looking forward seems to be stirred in
with things as they come along. I can't explain what I mean, but the difference
is immense.
