Up to the time of writing there has been no mention of Iowa officers or men – no intimation that a single Iowa Regiment was in the great battle of Sunday and Monday. This, like all the others fought in the West, is purely an Illinois fight, Chicago newspapers having a monopoly on the whole thing. When they get through beating their gongs, or when the mails bring along [accounts] from persons not belonging to the Chicago press-gang, the people of Iowa may learn something of the part taken by our State troops at Pittsburg – what their loss, &c., &c.
