AT A MEETING of the Executive Committee of the Scott County Soldier’s Relief Association, April 9th, 1862, it was, on motion, resolved to request the following gentlemen to act as a Finance Committee in their respective districts:
City of Davenport, 1st Ward – Thomas Scott.
City of Davenport, 2d Ward – Belk Peters.
City of Davenport, 3d Ward – Chr. Kauffman.
City of Davenport, 4th Ward – Joshua Burr.
City of Davenport, 5th Ward – James McCosh.
City of Davenport, 6th Ward – A. C. Fulton.
Davenport Township (outside of city) – Dr. A. J. Emets.
Winfield Township – James Quinn.
Pleasant Valley Township – Bachus Birchard.
Buffalo Township – M. S. Budlong.
Blue Grass Township – James Herron.
Rockingham Township – Edward Ricker.
Princeton Township – L. G. Chamberlin.
Le Claire Township – Charles Disney.
Liberty Township – Dr. A. M. Frost.
Cleona Township – Thomas Harley.
Hickory Grove Township – J. Langheim.
Allen’s Grove Township – F. Rothstein.
Resolved, That the Secretary be requested to furnish each member of the finance committee with a suitable book in which may be entered the name of each male resident of their respective townships and wards above the age of 18 years, and the fact whether such persons do or do not contribute to the object of this association, the amount of money or number of articles donated; and each member of the finance committee is hereby requested to appoint such assistants as may be needed in order to secure a thorough canvass o the districts assigned them.
Resolved, That the Ladies’ Aid Society, the German Ladies’ Aid Society, of this city, the Iowa Sanitary Commission, the Directors and sub-Directors of the various school districts in this county, and all officers and members of benevolent societies and corporations, are earnestly requested to contribute money, bandages, lint, hospital stores, &c., to assist this Association in the important labor devolving upon it, and also to render every possible assistance to the members of the Finance Committee, in order that every household in Scott county may be solicited or have an opportunity to contribute.
Drs. J. J. Olshausen, A. S. Maxwell, Langer, J. W. H. Baker and Jas. Gamble, of Le Claire, were appointed a Surgical Committee, as provided by the Constitution.
Messrs. Israel Hall, Harvey Hills and Mr. Donahue were appointed a committee on Burial, as likewise provided by the constitution.
