16th Regiment in the Fight.
CAIRO, April 11.
TO EDWARD RUSSELL, Davenport Iowa:
The 8th, 12th and 14th Iowa regiments were nearly all taken prisoners. The 16th was in the fight. All our troops suffered severely.
Capt. Littler lost his left arm.
Twenty eight of our wounded are at Mound City – none of them from Scott Co.
Will leave to-night for the filed.
