Extract of a Letter from one High in Position on the Mississippi

“All hail to the Union.  The cloud is fast lifting from our broken nationality; and the stars and stripes will soon float over the entire area of our country; and then let them float forever.  You will have great news soon; rebellion is biting the dust, and God grant that we wreak a nation’s wrongs upon the guilty heads of the scoundrels who set it on foot. – One great wail should go up from gibbets, loud enough to startle the universe – ‘behold the doom of traitors!’”

I know you will ring out from your loyal heart a loud Amen!  So mote it be!

As ever your friend,
_____ _____ _____.
