ST. LOUIS, April 10. – The Republican’s correspondent with
Gen. Curtis says: From facts learned in camp, another battle between the
Federal and Rebel armies in that direction is not at all improbable, and that
within a short period.
Two hauls of counterfeits were made here yesterday, and
$100,000 in bogus U. S. Treasury notes and $10,000 on the State Bank of
Indiana, together will a complete set of engraver’s tools, plates, presses,
&c., have been captured. The guilty
parties were also arrested. The bills
are well executed and calculated to deceive the best judges.
