New York, Jan. 29. – Advices from Ft. Pickens by the
Philadelphia, state that the Rebels have withdrawn a portion of their forces to
Mobile which they consider in special danger.
It is understood that the rebel force opposite Ft. Pickens is not over
6,000 exclusive of that at Live Oak plantation which is held by from one to
three thousand and fortified.
Contrabands are constantly coming in to Col. Brown
