This regiment, whose martial appearance attracted so much
attention in our city, a few weeks ago, met with a very serious accident, the
telegraph informs us, while going up the Tennessee river. They were on the steamer Gladiator, when the
upper deck gave way, and five or six were killed, and a number of others
injured. Their names have not
transpired.
