The city is filled with strangers who have come here to
witness the inauguration. The rain fell heavily last night, and the streets are
very muddy, but this afternoon it looks some like clearing off. I hope
to-morrow may be pleasant, and an omen of the coming four years, which, God
grant, may be years of peace instead of war.
