Thomas Theodore
Crittenden, Central, '55, studied law after his graduation and began the
practice of law at Kansas City, Mo. At the outbreak of the war he entered the
Union army and became colonel of the 7th Missouri Cavalry. From 1871 to 1872 he
was attorney general of Missouri. From 1877 to 1881 he was a member of Congress
and from 1881 to 1885 governor of Missouri. From 1898 to 1897 he was United
States consul at the City of Mexico. He received the degree of LL. D. from the
University of Missouri in 1881. He died at Kansas City in 1909.
