Diary of Private Alexander G. Downing: Thursday, December 10, 1863

It is pretty cold weather now, somewhat cloudy and windy. Our regiment furnished the patrol for the city today, composed of a captain, a lieutenant, two sergeants, eight corporals and forty privates.
