Had the Ruffners,
Cousin R. Taylor's family, Dr. Madison, Mr. Norton, and two or three others to
tea this evening; the first company invited to tea, I believe, since the war
began. Had an agreeable evening. Weather beautiful and mild as May. . . . Had a pleasant ride on horseback with
Mr. P. this evening.
