Ben and I took a bath in a stream back of our camp. Banks
publishes in orders that “the Hartford and Albatross passed the
fort safely, and lie anchored above. The object of the expedition is
accomplished.”
I expect that the first news which reaches the North will be
through rebel sources, announcing the destruction of our fleet, etc.
