Everything runs along about the same. Little excitements
from day to day. The weather is fair, and taken all together thus far this
winter has been very favorable to us as prisoners. Lieut. Bossieux lost his
dog. Some Yanks snatched him into a tent and eat him up. Bossieux very mad and
is anxious to know who the guilty ones are. All he can do is to keep all our
rations from us one day, and he does it. Seems pretty rough when a man will eat
a dog, but such is the case.
