[We] marched [from Lexington] to Buchanan. A hot, dusty
march, twenty-four miles. Bathed in James River. The next day [we pushed on] to
"Fancy Farm," Bedford County, near Liberty, sixteen miles. Fine views
of Peaks of Otter.
