Leaving instructions
for the brigade to follow, General Zollicoffer and his staff, with Captain
Allison and twenty-five of his company as escort, left Jamestown early in the
morning, and, pressing forward to overtake Colonel Stanton, they found him just
at night encamped not far from Albany, Kentucky.
