A Rebel Discharge

We have received from Capt. John Foreman, commanding detachment 3d Kansas regiment, formerly a citizen of Davenport, a curiosity in the shape of a discharge from the rebel army, taken from one of the prisoners he recently captured. Capt. Foreman is now stationed on the Missouri boarder, and expects soon to go to Mexico.

– Published in The Davenport Daily Gazette, Davenport, Iowa, Tuesday Morning, April 22, 1862, p. 1

NOTE: Per Dyer’s Compendium, the organization of the 3rd Kansas Infantry Regiment was not completed, but it was consolidated with the 4th Kansas Infantry to form 10th Kansas Infantry April 3, 1862.
