Unofficial dispatches, but considered reliable, announce
that Princeton, capitol of Mercer, where Gen. Cox’s advance was stationed, was
attacked and captured yesterday by rebels under Humphrey Marshall. This morning the place was recaptured and the
rebels defeated by Cox. No
particulars. Scouts report the rebels
have been reinforced.
