The Observance of Washington’s Birth-day Recommended by the President

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19. – BY THE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES – A PROCLAMATION. – It is recommended to the people of the United States that they assemble in their customary places for public solemnity, on the 22^nd day of February and celebrate the anniversary of the birth-day of the father of his country by causing to be read to them his farewell address.
