. . . in Kentucky was the splendid behavior of the field officers. There was not a Colonel, Lieutenant-Colonel
or Major who did not do his whole duty.
This shows an immense stride of improvement since Bull Run, where as a
general rule, the field officers were lamentably inefficient.
