It cleared during the night and this morning it was sharp
and cold. As I awoke the sun was peeping brilliantly up behind the eastern
hills and all nature was beautiful. About two inches of snow fell in the night
which added to the beauty of the sunrise. Three deserters stole into our lines
from the enemy in the night. They report that many more want to get away; read
two letters to-night one from home and one from Hen.
