Diary of 4th Sergeant John S. Morgan: Monday, August 31, 1863

Mustered at 9. A. M. Start on march at 10. A. M. Road to Brownville at 2. P. M. 9 miles from former camp turn into timber and camp for the night Davidsons supply train is here goes on with us in the morning our water from mud holes thick skum over it, when the coffee is made, it has the appearance of haveing cream in it.
