Ex-President Buchanan departed on his journey for Wheatland
this afternoon in the 3 o’clock train, after first exchanging many farewell
handshakings with numerous friends. He
was escorted to the railroad depot by the President’s Mounted Guard, Capt Woens,
numbering sixty-five rank and file, and the first battalion Union Regiment,
Major J. G. Jewell, who gave three hearty cheers as the train left.
