KINGSTON, ROSS COUNTY, OHIO, August 15, 1866.
DEAR UNCLE:— I came here Saturday, and am having a mild attack of fever.
Mother Webb is in a very critical condition. I fear she will not get well. I write chiefly to let you know it for the sake of the boys, especially Birtie. I do not want him to be struck too suddenly, as I fear might be the case.
Sincerely,
R. B. HAYES.
S. BIRCHARD.
