A beautiful morning. Dan Bancroft came in to see me this
forenoon, a private in the Vermont Cavalry; had inspection at 11 a. m. and
dress parade this evening. Quite a number of recruits came this evening, but
only one for Company B. Col. A. B. Jewett and Lieut.-Colonel W. W. Henry also
returned from Vermont to-night. The band has been serenading Colonel Jewett. It
is cold and frosty with a little snow still on the ground.
