Clear but cold.
Guard mounting at the usual hour Lt Allen Officer of the Guard. Inspection of
Battalion by the Staff at the usual hour 10 O'clock 48th Ind. arrived here last
night 2 Regts also came down from St. Louis this evening It is reported that Fort Donelson is taken
by our troops.
