New Orleans, Sept. 12, 1865.
I shall be detained here some days on business. As soon as I
can get away, I shall come home, and hope my coming will not be deferred long
after the reception of this letter. I cannot now write you at length; my plans
are not matured. My health is much the same, no worse.
