Frederick Johnson enlisted in the Union army in 1862, a
member of Company F, Sixth Iowa Infantry. He received a gun shot wound at the
battle of Missionary Ridge, from the effects of which he died in 1868. He was a
special favorite with all his acquaintances, and his death was a source of
universal regret.
