It is still raining. The army started at 8 a. m. Companies
C, D and E of the Eleventh Iowa were sent back to town on provost guard, to see
that nothing was burned, until the First Division should come up. Our division
is on the main road. The First and Third Divisions are on roads to our right,
and the Fifteenth Corps is off on our left. We marched twelve miles today.
