Gloomy morning; am feeling better. Ryland Seaver has been
down to see me this morning. Andrew Burnham and wife also called this
afternoon; think they are looking a little worn; marriage without means is
evidently not a bed of roses even for vigorous people on a country hillside
farm. Rodney Seaver has also been in to see me, too; has married since I've
been in the army. He is another good man, but Ryle and I have always been firm
friends and always shall be. The three Seaver brothers are straight, reliable,
splendid men.
