CHARLESTOWN, Va., March 6 – 8 P. M.
Smithfield, seven miles northeast of this place, was occupied to-day by a strong force.
Gen. Banks issued a general order forbidding depredations upon property; that no officer or soldier shall disturb, in any manner, the ordinary business of the country.
