. . . it is worthy of note, in connection with the news from
Florida, that the assistant Treasurer received yesterday morning his first
remittance from any of the Gulf States since their secession. Mr. George Phillips, the Postmaster at Fort
Jefferson, Florida, has forwarded $77, this being due the Government from
receipts in his department.
