It is evident . . .

. . . from the tone of our latest advices that a great battle is soon to be fought at or near Corinth, Miss., which will decide the destiny of rebellion in the West.  Both sides are making tremendous preparations of this conflict, which is not far off.

The date of this article is fortuitous, the next day, April 6, 1862 was the 1st day of the Battle of Shiloh.

I wonder what might have happened had the American Civil War never taken place and instead of War it was handled in a different more civil way.
