HEADQUARTERS 54TH REGT.
O. V. INF.,
CAMP NO. 7 BEFORE CORINTH,
May 19, 1862.
Yesterday we were in a sharp engagement. Had thirteen men
killed and thirty-five wounded. We were victorious, and drew the enemy from
position. My troops are now in battle array, waiting orders. We hear General
Pope is hotly engaged on the left wing.
