PITTSBURG, May 3 – 9 P.
M.
Hon. E. M. Stanton:– Gen.
Paine’s division made a reconnoissance to Farmington to-day; found about 4,500
of the enemy and drove them off in handsome style. An artillery reconnoissance went to Glendale
this A. M. and destroyed tow trestle bridges and sand track on the Memphis and
Charleston R. R. It has been a splendid day’s
work for the left wing. The weather is
clear and the roads are becoming good.
