Diary of Brigadier-General William F. Bartlett: Saturday, August 6, 1864

Dr. Hunter put certificate on my letter to Secretary of War. Got dozen eggs to-day, $5.00; feel little better to-day; pain bowels still; rain this P. M.; my tent all rags, open at both ends. Just a week since I was taken; what a week of misery.
