Organized at New Albany, Ind., and mustered in September 18, 1861. Ordered to Elizabethtown, Ky., September 21, and duty at Camp Nevin on Green River till February, 1862. Regiment lost during service 9 Officers and 147 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 254 Enlisted men by disease. Total 411.
