Fifty-two recruits left yesterday on the steamer Canada for St. Louis. They are intended for the 13th and 14th regiments, half for each. Those for the 13th are under the command of Capt. Baker, and those for the 14th under Lieuts. Shuey and Horan. Sergeant West, of the 14th regiment, accompanied the recruits. Mr. West was elected a member of the Legislature from Henry county, last fall, but afterwards enlisted as a private, and thereby vacated his seat – a patriotic example not unworthy of imitation.
