A few citizens of a rural township in Keokuk county, not
very well versed in the nature of legislative enactments, propose to hold an
election to determine whether the dog law shall be enforced in that
neighborhood! Our neighbor of the Democrat makes it the staple of a
leader, and very seriously gives it as his opinion that such action would be
null and void! He gravely adds, “Language
is too feeble to express our contempt for such proceedings.” We advise him to drop his vernacular and try
the more expressive Milanese.
