PERSONAL. – Ira M. Gifford and Dr. L. J. Centre, of Iowa,
arrived at the Sherman House last evening.
These gentleman have been constituted by Gov. Kirkwood a commission to
proceed to Pittsburg Landing to look after the sick and wounded of the Iowa
soldiers. No better soldiers have been
sent to the battle field than those from Iowa, and we are glad to witness the
interest which the excellent Governor of the State takes in their welfare.
