The Seventeenth Iowa Regiment reached Hamburg, Tennessee, on
the 6th of May and was immediately placed in the first division. The Seventeenth was organized with great
rapidity, and is composed of as good fighting material as the State
possesses. Col. RANKIN is kind and
considerate to his soldiers, and established that kind of regulation which will
ensure their benefit in camp and field. – Des
